About Matt Watts – CTE WW Enterprise and Commercial at NetApp

Matt Watts - Director, Technology and Strategy EMEA at NetApp

I have been with NetApp for 15 years, but in the IT industry for much longer, in fact I have more than 25 years of IT experience. I work closely with the Office of the CTO, Product Operations and Marketing teams at NetApp, but I spend most of my time at events or with businesses articulating NetApp’s Strategy and the business value of IT.

This is my personal blog and does not necessarily represent the views of my employer.

@phil_wiffen Very true Phil, I probably wouldn’t even bother applying for a role if it had this as a requirement, it makes you think they really couldn’t be bothered to make an effort when writing up the details.

It really annoys me when recruiters put this in job adverts. Some of the most talented people I know don’t have degrees, why would you foolishly exclude them with a pointless requirement like this. pic.twitter.com/ZQLUqkMSRl

@EE Yes, they simply said that I’m too far away from the 5G mast, this clearly isn’t the problem as my phone works and my 5G router has an external antenna, and it can see a 5G signal

Yesterday from Matt Watts's Twitter via TweetDeck

@DavidLeyland @EE I think it’s due to the limited bandwidth available in the towns, they don’t want people using 5G on their phones to have a bad experience because others with 5G routers are grabbing the bandwidth.

Yesterday from Matt Watts's Twitter via TweetDeck

After days of issues with my 5G router on @EE it appears that they are blocking 5G routers in the ‘towns' where 5G has rolled out. Just because you can see a 5G signal, do NOT assume you can use it for 5G broadband!
