Fast, Efficient and with Enterprise capabilities…welcome to the world our AFF bundles of joy

June 22, 2015 Matt NetApp Videos, Watts Innovating

I don’t normally record a blog for a NetApp Launch but I just couldn’t let this pass without one. Usual disclaimer, no apologies this is a NetApp post through and through, and why not, when Engineers deliver something like this it makes me proud to work for the company that I do. All the details are in the video…

Commodity, Business Value, New Opportunities – The IT spending conundrum (Part 2 of 2)

September 17, 2014 Matt Watts Innovating

It’s been a few weeks since part 1 of this post and I’ve had lots of interesting feedback. much of this was surprise that with all the focus on cost reduction, IT spending patterns have changed very little. Here are three strategies that I believe must be embraced for the future, in order to continue to reduce the cost of[…]

Over 5 Years and 70 Petabytes, we know a LOT about Flash!

Schopenhauer was right, truth really does pass through three phases: First it is ridiculed. Second it is fiercely and violently opposed. Third, it becomes self-evident. One of the many great things about working in the IT industry, especially in storage is that we’re constantly having to evolve our technology to deal with data that’s growing faster than the capacity of[…]

No video this time! I felt this one would be easier to write down, be warned it is a long one, you may want to get that cup of coffee first! Over the last 5 or so years I’ve worked at NetApp there’s been a constant theme to my presentations, they all focus on the value that ONTAP delivers upwards,[…]

About Matt Watts – Chief Evangelist

Matt Watts - Director, Technology and Strategy EMEA at NetApp

I’m an ambivert and an engineer, it’s taken a lot of different experiences in order for me to realise that this is the most appropriate description for who I am though.

I’ve always had a lot to say, I think being an engineer means I’m constantly looking for solutions to problems or analysing things to see how they could be done better, or sometimes just wondering why someone made a particular decision on how to build something.

Then I want to chat about it.

I work closely with the Office of the CTO, Product Operations and Marketing teams at NetApp, but I spend most of my time at events or with businesses articulating NetApp’s Strategy and the business value of IT.

This is my personal blog and does not necessarily represent the views of my employer.
