Data Fabric; it’s enabled by End Points, Connections, Services and Applications

August 24, 2016 Matt Watts Innovating

Phil Brotherton our VP for the Data Fabric Group introduced me to this way of discussing the layers that make up our Data Fabric Strategy, it really resonated with me so I’ve started to use it in my own way as well. I find it’s a great way to have a more strategic discussion without heading too quickly into the[…]

Your future role in IT probably doesn’t exist yet

According to the ‘World Economic Forum’, between 2015 and 2020 35% of the core skills you have today will change. What do you think these changes might be? Personally, looking back over my time with NetApp, 11 years now, it fascinates me as to how my own role has adapted and changed. Some changes are very simple. For example, when I[…]

About Matt Watts – Chief Evangelist

Matt Watts - Director, Technology and Strategy EMEA at NetApp

I’m an ambivert and an engineer, it’s taken a lot of different experiences in order for me to realise that this is the most appropriate description for who I am though.

I’ve always had a lot to say, I think being an engineer means I’m constantly looking for solutions to problems or analysing things to see how they could be done better, or sometimes just wondering why someone made a particular decision on how to build something.

Then I want to chat about it.

I work closely with the Office of the CTO, Product Operations and Marketing teams at NetApp, but I spend most of my time at events or with businesses articulating NetApp’s Strategy and the business value of IT.

This is my personal blog and does not necessarily represent the views of my employer.

Looking for a way to report on power consumption for your #NetApp systems? you can now do this with Harvest github.com/NetApp/harvest… I must point out that it doesn’t yet work for all systems which is work in progress
